Rockies at Astros, 6/26/24

You can see why their record is what it is.

Yordan seems to be heading for the off day already.

Bottom 7, part III:

Blach in for Rockies. Bringing in a lefty reliever for Yordan
Bloop down LF line, just inside of line misses diving attempt, bounces for rule book double, holding Bregman at 3b
Diaz singles to CF, Bregman scores, Yordan forgets how many outs there are and holds up so stopped at 3b, 6-0 Astros
Abreu down, Dubin up in pen
Jake K looking

End 7, 6-0 Astros

I’ll give him a pass for forgetting how many outs with how long that inning was and how many outs the Rockies gave away

Best start of his career so far.

Top 8:

Dubin in, Loperfido to LF for Alvarez, Chas to RF, Dubon stays in at 1b

Leadoff walk
Liner down RF line, ruled in play for RBI double, let’s review that one - looked like rule book; yes, it was rule book (not replay review, umpires went back and got it right)
Dubin comes back from 3-1 to get the K looking
Fly to RCF track, Meyers has it, both runners move up. 6-1 Astros.
K ends the inning

Mid 8, 6-1 Astros

Colorado might not be a good baseball team.

Their defense is mighty sketchy.

Gameday said "pickoff at 1B’ with runners in second & third, then called an “interference error” on the first baseman. ???

Bot 8:

Nature called and I came back to Pena driving in Dubon with a single, 7-1 Astros, nobody out
Loperfido bounces to first, throw to second is wild, everyone safe
Salazar K looking
Balch out, Vodnik in
Back pick throw to 1b, 1b called for interference, runners move up. Never seen that one.
Altuve K swinging on 3-2
Bregman bounces 4-3

End 8, 7-1 Astros

Back pick throw, 1b called for blocking the bag. Moved the runners from first and second to second and third.

They seem devoid of hap.

It took 80 games, but it’s a whole new season for the Astros now. 82 games left to make a run.

They have been on a run for six or seven weeks. A .636 winning percentage in that timeframe. Only the Yankees and Phillies have been better.

It’s been fascinating to watch the team literally remake itself right in the middle of a season.

Been fun to watch for sure. Hoping JV can come back and then one of Garcia or McCullers.

Btw, what would it take to go out and grab Flaherty?
