Someone tell me why Hader gives up homers? I would love to come back throwing 1000 mph.
He has been good. Who knew?
It’s puzzling. My guess is that some of his pitches just stay on the same horizontal plane, keeping them in the hitting zone longer and diminishing his velocity advantage. But he gives up some long ones.
It’s always to rhb and it’s always the slider/cutter/sinker down and in.

I feel like elite pitchers trust their stuff so much that they are willing to throw it over the heart of the plate and big league hitters are gonna get you sometimes.
I have no data to back this up, would love to read it if it’s out thers, but I feel like the better the pitcher, the higher percentage of runs are via the homerun.
