Chas got carved up

Jones has hit the ball well 3 times, I think, with an o-fer to show for it.

What a shitty game

J Walkers Row a combined 2 for 14. (.143)

When this team is on, they’re impressive.
When they field this shitstain version of the 2021 Houston Astros Baseball club, I want to drink turpentine.

This game was over as soon as Dusty filled out the lineup card.

That’s an accurate statement.

Make stupid lineups, win stupid prizes.

While I obviously understand the importance of days off and maintenance of players, just about nothing ruins my motherfucking day more than checking out that day’s lineup and seeing that the manager has already given up before the game started.

Welcome to your favorite steakhouse! Unfortunately, the head chef has been working 13 days in a row without a break, so we’ll be serving Arby’s instead. Same pricing though and you can’t cancel your reservation. If you close your eyes and don’t think, you can pretend it’s the same thing. Enjoy.

Not to mention Correa and Tucker, arguably the two hottest hitters, both “rested” yesterday. So did the entire offense. The entire OF and the C were AAA, but hey! Bregman played!

YES.

I especially loved when the broadcast showed us the lineups and then, not too much later, showed us how CC/Kyle had been 135% of the Astros offense this homestand…so they were both given the day off. I can totally understand one OR the other, but both? Did Dusty not understand that the A’s were off and that a win meant we go to sleep (tied) in first place? Is that not important to him?

It’s been 116 games now under Dusty, and the team is FOUR fucking games above .500

Cecil Cooper finished his Astros managing career one game over .500 for comparison and I don’t fucking think anyone in here wishes we had him back.

I grow tired of having my daily escape from reality destroyed by the man we pay to make sure the machine runs smoothly.

I think you misspelled “trot out as a goodwill gesture to futilely attempt to distract people from the cheating allegations”.

Best part: it totally worked. No one boos us at opposing parks and I can totally wear my Astros gear around town in division rival territory without having to field dumbass comments and questions all goddamn day.

It’s like no one even remembers the scandal now, thanks to two years of Dusty Baker. All hail.

Took the words right out of my mouth, bud.
Thanks, Jim Crane!

I was musing to myself at the start of the game about a made-up (in my mind) stat called manager wins above replacement and came to the conclusion that Dusty is likely like a -10 for an entire season and Hinch would be a +5 or more on the year. That’s the type of thinking his lineups and in-game machinations make me think about.

Prime Beef vs Choice Beef.

It makes a difference. I expect to get what I pay for.
