Rays @ Astros, May 31, 2025, bring the same mojo as yesterday

I think that the Rays finally getting official word that Yordan was going to be out for this game is what made the difference.

Espada- “I think Forrest has some of the best stuff in the bullpen.”
Um, what?

That’s certainly one idea.

They had a good rest yesterday.

Compared to who?

Maybe he means comedy material

It’s not just that, they have a World Series calibre rotation on the IL. They are stretched incredibly thin, and between gems like Framber’s yesterday, we’re going to see some real turds by some of the starters and some of the relievers or por que no los dos.

I believe I saw that, team record in starts:

Framber/Brown 14-9

Everybody Else: 17-18

We need one more SP who fits in there on the top row.

I’m not arguing otherwise. But, when you have Blanco, Javier, Garcia, Wesneski and Arrighetti on the IL, I don’t know who else they can turn to within the organization. They already had to put Ryan Gusto in the rotation. Their internal options are very limited at the moment.

This is why you trade, like they did for Greinke, to have a guy in the 3/4 spot.

Doesn’t have to happen this week, but it should happen at some point.

They’ve got nothing left to trade.

I disagree

They’ve got some interesting pitching in the lower levels, but I’m not sure how much you could get in return. This team has quite a few flaws and is unlikely to reach the postseason, let alone do anything once there, and a better 3/4 starter won’t change that. I’d hate to trade away pitching that might be helpful in future seasons in a futile attempt to salvage this one.

They have a shitload of pitching returning from Gilligan’s Island at some point this year, SUPPOSEDLY, so I imagine they’ll see if any of that actually happens before they alter course. In the mean time, they’re going to have to outscore teams to win and I think we all know how that’s likely to fare.

Look back on how much we traded for Greinke, Kikuchi, etc…

I see no reason they can’t do something like that again.

They’ve got the prospects to get any of the realistic options. It’ll probably be a Kikuchi-type trade, someone underperforming who they can fix by saying “stop throwing your bad pitches.” It’ll cost more than anyone will like, it’s going to be a serious seller’s market, but they’ll get someone.

The “top men” we traded for JV last time have done exactly jack sh!t.

All I’m saying is, I don’t care what the “minor league rankings” are…we have things to trade if someone is willing

I agree a trade is likely. The Astros could at least get a rental option like Sugano or Eflin in Baltimore or Heaney in Pittsburgh with what they have on the farm.
