Our offense is shit.
Glad I went down to the hotel bar instead of watching the last 2 innings of this game.
Sumbitch.
Win the series mañana.
I went and picked up some spring rolls and Tom Kha Gai. I feel my time was much better spent, as was yours.
Astros lost.
Hey, I just got here what did I miss?
Oh….
Phillies blow a 5 run lead against the Mariners. Astros back in second
Love stats, not surprised by this one.
(2:40:41) during Breg’s AB (1-2 count)…
"As Bregman goes so do the 'Stros:
- in wins, hitting .311 w/ 11 of his 14 HR
- in losses, .189"
…pop up.
I’ve always looked at this as a “duh, no shit” stat, of course, the numbers in wins are going to be much better in wins than losses. I’ve never put it to the test, though. So I will now. My hypothesis is that nearly every player will have big differences in stats between wins and losses.
First OPS will be in wins, second one in losses
Yainer Diaz - .856 and .657
Jon Singleton - .789 and .556
Jose Altuve - .823 and .772
Jeremy Pena - .815 and .590
Alex Bregman - .919 and .497
Mauricio Dubon - .632 and .716
Jake Meyers - .772 and .602
Kyle Tucker - 1.294 and .730
Yordan Alvarez - 1.045 and .758
So as I suspected, everyone other than Dubon plays better in wins, most guys have massive differences in wins. Dubon has better numbers in losses because he was playing his best in April and May when the Astros were losing a bunch.
It always drives me crazy when broadcasts use stats like this. It’s on the same level of team scores x runs in wins and only y runs in losses. Yeah, ya fucking think? Pretty much worthless to even point out.
Rant over, thank you for coming to my ted talk
This has always driven me nuts too. So you’re saying when you play better you win more? Whoa…this is a whole nother level of analysis.
Wait, wait, wait! Are y’all saying when the team’s best hitters don’t hit, the team does not do well? OMG! Who knew?
That is a bit if a duh set of ##, but what is interesting is what’s underneath:
• It appears that ‘tuve is only a.051 variance
• while Tuck is .564.
Wow!
I wonder if this is similar to the improvement in my Spanish when I consume alcohol…
Being able to say cerveza and tequila doesn’t mean you can speak spanish
MÁS tequila y cerveza.
ETA - I actually have a somewhat tenuous relationship with tequila. In high school, we used drive down to the border and cross over to Mexico to drink. Surprisingly, they weren’t quite as strict about enforcing the drinking age. Also surprisingly, they weren’t serving a sixteen year old with braces top shelf tequila.
Only two Spanish words you really need to know: “cerveza” and “baño”
I assumed at a very young age that “Donde esta la biblioteca?” would be much more useful.
Only if it had a baño
