Padres @ Astros, April 19, 2025

I don’t know if he’s “just another player”…he was a fine Astro who was instrumental to historical success. He should be remembered a notch above someone like Franklin Stubbs.

A Dodger great!!

He was a little better than Franklin Stubbs, c’mon now

Which is my point.

He would lead the Astros in HR’s and RBI’s, doubling the nearest Astro in both categories. I would not mind having his 1.1 WAR on the team right now.

Paredes 0.9 WAR
Smith 0.3 WAR
Wesneski 0.3 WAR

But Paredes and Weneski don’t play RF

Oops!

Alex Bergman WAR 2.1
Ryan Pressly WAR 0.3

Fire Brown

I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make here. Tucker would likely be contributing more as the everyday right fielder than Cam Smith is. I’m not sure how one can seriously argue otherwise. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t the right deal, but there’s no getting around the fact that they are at two different levels of production.

While this lineup lacks some of the explosiveness of a lineup with Bregman and Tucker, I think the long term potential with this lineup is more consistency. I hope I’m right.

Sarcasm was the point.

Tucker was never going to sign with Houston. It was either keep him for 1 more season and let him walk or trade him. I’m glad they got something for him.

This.

I have low expectations for the 2025 lineup. Some hope, but low expectations.

If there’s any doubt sell, sell, sell.

This team needs dynamic talent.

Absolutely right no matter what he does this year.

Correct.

And I think further context with the Tucker situation vs other guys they let go for nothing…

With Cole, Springer, Correa, Verlander, etc. The Astros were still a favorite to win a title heading into their walk year, trading them for prospects would have made zero sense. With Tucker, the Astros are a contender still, but not a favorite and the farm is depleted now, when it wasn’t then. If the Astros still had a strong farm system and the big league club was still as strong as 19, 20, 21, theres no way they trade Tucker. But that’s just not the case now.
