Texas Tech, like any other team, will play the best eligible, available player at any position. That will almost certaily mean Brendan Sorsby will start game three against UH.

Well, Cody Campbell, certainly a Tech fan and on their Board of Regents, doesn’t sound like someone who is opposed to the decision. Also, this quote makes little sense:
This unfortunate situation is the outcome of a broken system,” Campbell said. “I’m doing everything I can to fix it, but until there is a permanent solution, Texas Tech and its student athletes have to do the best they can to navigate and compete amid the chaos that exists in the reality of the world we live in.”
So what? Please explain to me the mechanism of Tech’s villainy in this.
It’s easy, most universities would simply agree that he violated important rules and release him or bench him. Tech is making themselves into a pariah amongst their peers, where teams are already refusing to associate with them.
Why go down that road? Just disassociate the University from the rule-breaker and move on.
So all they had to do was declare him ineligible? Why didn’t the NCAA think of that?

So Tech should pay him the $5 million and bench him? You’re delusional if you think UT or any other program would do that. Especially when the transgression did not occur as a member of the team and the player has been to rehab. Any team in the same circumstance would play Sorsby.
Most every University would find a legal out from that NIL deal. If they can’t, just let Mr. Billionaire foot the loss; it’s his show and he’s ultimately responsible for that NIL deal and it’s legal terms.
Also, it’s a bit ironic that your original post I responded to was that almost all Tech fans disagree with the injunction, and yet, you seem unwilling to support a way out. Pretty tepid disagreement.

Never said he was a “Tech judge”. Said he was in Lubbock. To think that doesn’t influence the decision is naive.
The original judge assigned was Phillip Hayes, who received both his undergraduate and law degrees from Texas Tech. He recused himself. A two judge panel, one an A&M graduate, the other a Baylor graduate, appointed retired judge Ken Curry from Fort Worth. Judge Curry received his Batchelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and his law degree from the University of Houston.
Only the court room was from Lubbock. You have twice accused Judge Curry of judicial bias without any evidence at all. If you have evidence of coercion or bribery, please bring it to the authorities. Otherwise your assertion that the ruling was solely due to the location of the courthouse will continue to be ignorant bullshit.
I know being obtuse so you can get offended regarding anything Tech is kind of your thing, but you can’t seriously not get what MM’s point is, right?
When my dad got back from WWII in 1946, he went to Tech and was such a Red Raider fan that he joined the Saddle Tramps, as early as the 1940s. I mean he had lifelong season tickets to both football and basketball, and would cheer any Tech student in any endeavor. He was also the most honest man I’ve ever known and he considered dishonesty a moral failing.
All that to say, he would be appalled by Tech supporting this player. QBs come and go, and my dad supported a lot of Tech QBs through 50 years. But he would never condone this Tech bullshit, whether it’s a backup kicker or a superstar QB. He would have been much more concerned about the morals shown by Tech, and how it would affect the school’s reputation.
I’m just glad he’s dead and can’t see what’s happened to Tech. The dishonesty and immorality would have broken his heart after so many years of unwavering support.

I consider it intellectually lazy. There is no evidence of judicial impropriety. I don’t know what could have been done to assure judicial impartiality that was not done. I don’t think the judge was biased in any way or that the venue had any thing to do with it. It’s just lazy, conspiracy theory bullshit.
I do think that the quality of council may have had something to do with it. The lay opinion I’ve seen indicates Sorsby’s team was prepared and professional while the NCAA’s council seemed to offer social media memes.
Possibly Indiana and probably Cincinnati knew and covered it up. When Tech became aware of the problem they were transparent. They’ve done nothing but support their player.
The only good that may come of this is that finally the NCAA may acknowledge the obvious fact that the players are employees and negotiate a CBA.
