Alex, Alex, Alex…

More than one way to kill a rally.

T5:

Sanchez strikes out swinging
Astudillo grounds to SS, Altuve there in the shift, kicks it…scored a single
Fortes pops out F6
De La Cruz flies out F8 against the CF wall

Halfway…5-0 Astros

B5:

Tucker, who as at the plate when Bregman got picked off to end the 4th… works it full…foul…foul…foul…pops out F5 in RCF in the shift
Gurriel lines out to deep LCF
Peña singles to RF
Peña steals 2B
Castro takes a hanger right down the pipe for strike three

5-0 Astros

T6:

Williams strikes out swinging
Chisholm strikes out swinging
Rojas lines out to 2B in the shift

5-0 Astros

Verlander’s physical therapist must be a genius.

B6:

Siri grounds out 4-3
Altuve strikes out looking
Brantley strikes out swinging at a pitch that may have hit his back foot while falling across the plate.

5-0 Astros

Peña’s pissing me off.

2 errors and a blast. Lead narrows to 5-4

T7:

Soler reaches on a TE6, to 2B as Peña throws it into the stands
Aguilar pops out F4
Sanchez grounds out 4-3 on a diving stop by Altuve in RF…got an out and saved a run for now…Blue Star!
Astudillo reaches on E4, as Altuve forfeits his recently acquired Blue Star. Soler scores
Fortes…0-2…1-2…2-2…full count walks, Astudillo to 2B
De La Cruz crushes a home run to LF…5-4 now
Williams grounds out 4-3 on a nice play behind 2B

But the Astros stomp their dicks and give up four unearned runs…5-4 Astros

Let’s hope the Astros can get a couple of those runs back now and the bullpen can get the job done.

This is really bad y’all

Running the bases does not seem to be their thing today.

This is inexcusable.

B7:

Bleier in for the Marlins

Bregman flies out F8 to deep LCF
Alvarez doubles to LF
Tucker singles to LF, Alvarez to 3B

Bleier out, Sulser in

Gurriel at the plate…Tucker picked off, Alvarez tries to score and he’s out 1-3-2 as Tucker to 2B. What a fucking dickstomp all the way around…Gurriel eventually grounds out 6-3

5-4 still

This game was fun until it wasn’t.

Killing rallies caught stealing 3B and home plate is rarely fun.

3 errors and 2 base running gaffes - they are really putting on a clinic out there…showing kids what NOT to do.

The team obviously has the pitching to win in spite of their noodle bats, but I doubt the pitching can overcome relentless defensive dickstepping and baserunning idiocy.

I’m pretty sure that was the first three-run homer JV has given up as an Astro. I seem to remember a stat to that effect during one of his recent starts.

ETA: At least in the regular season…
