But isn’t that all the same? They didn’t last a generation.
Pete Rose
Staub was gone before I remember. Martinez was a decade later than Raines. There was no overlap.
I could understand the Reds. What about Dawson or Gary Carter, or am I remembering wrong?
Springer with an RBI double.
Wasn’t Staub an unprotected pick?
eta. Yes, I can look this shit up like everyone else, but it’s fun not to and get everyone’s opinion.
Staub was traded for Jesus Alou and Donn Clendenon. Clendenon refused to report to the Astros and the Expos sent someone else.
Middle of four…3-1 Astros
Question: Internet or Memorex?
Letting go of Springer seems like the right move now. I second guessed it at the time.
I know the Staub deal. I don’t know who the Astros got in place of Clendenon
Good enough. Playing along is more fun when you don’t look it ALL up. Then again, a lot of us don’t go that far back.
I don’t remember it happening, I just know of the trade. It’s a rather famous one in Astros history.
End of four…3-1
For whatever reason I thought he was the unprotected pick for the expansion.
I believe Alou was an expansion pick by the Expos who was traded before the season. I don’t know if the Astros lost anyone of note in that expansion draft.
Didn’t they play in Olympic Stadium, built just for that? It looked really cool with the tinted windows in the boxes. Is it still there in use?
Walker can play his position.
Walker flashes the leather to end the fifth. Halfway…3-1 Astros
He has matched Abreu so far. I believed in him and was wrong. I hope I’m right this time.
