My first thought with Cora and the whole staff getting canned was that something is about to come down from the league office on Alex and more cheating.

They’re doing a piss poor job of it if so.

Not a great day for Reds pitchers:

Pirates lead 15-4 after 5. Reds have thrown 166 pitches.

Grim.

Altuve’s career OPS is .825.

Is that bad?

I’m glad it’s just OPS. That’s a useless statistic and I don’t believe in it.

It means that Altuve has been underachieving his entire career.

I was one of those cartoon heads turning red and steaming whenever they said ā€œYordan is leading the league in batting, on base, slugging, and OPSā€.

How wrong can OPS be as a metric if it has the Astros at the top of the list of worst at getting the 9-hole hitter out?

Or should have been hitting 10th.
