Athletics at Astros, 7/27/2025. Billy Wagner HOF day

Hummel GIDP

2-0 A’s

Ok. He’s taking the field so that is a good sign.

I know nine guys have to play, but you simply cannot keep running Hummel out there, no matter how desperate you are.

I’m much less concerned about Hummel than I am about the pitching.

Middle of three…2-0 A’s

The A’s have a -127 run differential as of today. And that’s including the 30-6 best down they’ve put on the Astros in the first 3 games.

This team is a sudden dumpster fire, and will be looking up and Seattle and the Rangers in a week if they don’t turn it around big-time soon.

They could have a team ERA of 1.50 and lose every game. At some point they have to score some runs.

Now listening to:

Astros down 1-2-3 on ten pitches again

2-0

I think pitching has continued to do their job minus the Kuertz show the other night and they are doing it knowing that they have to pitch damn near perfect every night to win.

And even when perfect there’s a good chance they can’t win.

Rooker leads off with a bloop single

Wynn with another bloop single, Rooker to 2B

Wild pitch moves runners to 2B and 3B

Infield in…

Shallow fly ball to LF makes it 3-0

Caratini takes a foul ball right to the nuts

Thomas with a bloop double to CF makes it 4-0. His first Big League RBI.

Middle of four…4-0 A’s

Gordon blew up three bats for a combined exit velo of 90 mph and a combined distance of 300 ft. Result…2 runs.
