Astros @ Rays, May 21, 2025

Related: the Astros are 25th in the majors in WAR from 2b.

And 29th in LF.

It’s not ideal

Hunter still getting hammered, now 4-2.

He probably won’t still be 2nd in ERA in the majors.

ETA: 5-2. HR on back to back pitches.

First B2B HRs for the Rays this year

6 hits for the Rays, 5 of them (all 3 HR) on the first pitch

When you combine little league dimensions with Florida heat, popups become homers.

Funny how only one team can take advantage of that.

Where’s Bregman when you need him?

It’s not all of it of course but the lack of LH hitters kills this team sometimes

I was sure when I fired up the truck to make a store run, and Eye of the Tiger was immediately blasted into my face, that it was a positive omen.

First 2 pitches when I get back leave the yard.

Our popups are travelling about 250 feet

Dubie!

Rays just announced that Evan Longoria, asshole, is getting the 1-day contract and retire treatment. They called him the “best player in franchise history”, and I’m not even sure who the rest of the top-5 would be.

EE-Sock!

E-Sack.

Our “popups” are flying now

I left the game to water some plants in my backyard and missed those two Astros dingers. I guess I know what I need to do now.

Why on earth did the Astros waste a challenge on that? Diaz was going to be out either way. Maybe they did it just because they knew Cash would go nuts and get thrown?

Thought it was a HBP?

Carl Crawford? Ben Zobrist? David Price?..I’m running out of names

Zobrist. I knew there was someone I was forgetting

But it was also ruled that he had offered at the pitch. If that’s the case, it doesn’t matter if it’s a HBP or not. Maybe they thought that the check for HBP would also allow a check of whether he went around or not.
