Big step forward for Montero. JV is something to behold.
At this rate, you may be doing enough yard work this season to start a new landscaping venture.
Two run leads cause cockiness with no one on. Wonder what the umpire’s report will show on the 3-2 to Lowe? It was very close.
Segers are much more tolerable
Of course, sure, the Seager homer wasn’t necessary for any dramatic effect. It was a great game.
Ok, let’s turn the page from this thread.
Not really that close.
As long as they keep working and practicing
I guess if the chart says so, but it looked close on my TV.
Throwing this in here since it’s an interesting read and we were talking about it a little in the middle of the game:
Hadn’t seen that article before, thanks.
It’s like shoes, we always want more of them.
In his 16 losses, he pitched 88 innings and got only 14 runs of support while in the game. Six times the Astros scored no runs for him, and eight times they scored only one run while he was pitching.
Five times in 1987, Ryan left the game with a lead, only to see the bullpen blow the victory for him. After he left games, his teammates scored only 13 runs, while the bullpen allowed 41.
‘Perplexing’ isn’t the first word I would’ve used.
As a review of the Rangers new stadium. The outside looks terrible from afar but upclose it’s pretty cool and I like how it’s set up inside and the bar outside it is pretty cool. Don’t sit in the front row of the any level other than the ones against the field, the railing is so high that you have to stand up to have a view that is not obstructed. I had front row in section 107 and the railing was very annoying. The lighting feels a bit off to me, something I noticed on TV and the lights were really annoying with the roof closed, something I’ve never noticed with MMP. Over all it’s an ok park, not great, kinda bland but not terrible either
Edit: by “how it’s set up inside” what I mean is the way things are layed out with the food and drink places.
My son and I were at the game yesterday, too (in fact, one section over from you) – our first at the new park – and noticed a lot of the same things.
Some parts of the concourse felt like I was in a mall, rather than a ballpark. The outside of the park looks awful, but actually inside the seating/field area, it looks pretty decent. The lighting did seem extra bright, and one bank of lights felt like it was pointed in our eyes the whole game.
The seats in the 100s also don’t seem angled properly – like, the row in front isn’t low enough to see over the people in front of you. For two innings, I couldn’t see the pitchers’ mound or batters box without moving or sitting awkwardly due to the people sitting front of me. Fortunately, they moved (and the park was half empty), but at capacity, that would be a lousy way to watch the game from what should have been good seats.
Very “okay” overall – like, kinda nice, but not as nice as it should have been.
One of the things I appreciate about MMP is that it’s relatively easy to navigate inside. It has its pinch points, but the concourses are generally wide, food/beverage options easy to access and it’s easy to enter and exit. Again…relatively, compared to other stadia, you’re still stuffing a lot of people in the same building at the same time, that’s just the nature of game. I think NRG is fantastic in that regard, as well. It’s designed really well in that way.
You have a point there - fast, easy exits from NRG are indeed desirable.

One of the things I appreciate about MMP is that it’s relatively easy to navigate inside.
My experience is that MMP is second only to Camden in the “not a bad seat in the house” category.
That’s another plus. I haven’t been to every park, or even all that many, but MMP seems near the top in this aspect, as well.
