France - up in FB 1-0. Looks a FB strike 1-1. Looks at ball 2-1. Grounds out 6-3.
Game. Astros 5. Mariners 2.

My amateur analysis of Maton without watching the game: He has a bit of Mortonitis and does not believe he is as good as he was last year and can be. Perhaps he does not pitch with enough confidence, and the result is nibbling. As Mark said a few minutes ago, trust your damn stuff.
It sure sounds and feels like the team will make a move for a big piece.
I am excited to see what it is.
Gerrit Cole putting pressure on his front office to make a deal. I hope like hell NYY does not trade for Soto.
The way I see it, there is really nothing the Astros can do or should do about Soto but hope.
Soto would improve NY but all but guarantee that Judge walks.
Would they take THAT PR hit?
Judge would likely end up with the Mets.
However, Castillo is a different matter.
The Astros do have a chance to get him and keep him from going to another contender.
The cost will hurt, especially in 2024 and 2025 but it would improve the team now AND prevent another team from improving.
World Series in 2023, worry about 2024 later.

He came from playing the traditional SS positioning instead of the RF corner. Perhaps that’s what confused the announcers…they’re not used to seeing the SS between 2B and 3B.
