This is my team, win or lose. But this is the worst Astros team I have ever seen. I cannot imagine they win 40 games at this rate.
Paredes with a 1-out single. He has two of the Astrosā three hits.
Walker down on strikes
Missed it live, if anyone else is interested they have the Raleigh āsingleā up on gameday now
Correa hackingā¦strikes out swinging at ball four 2-ft off the plate.
Middle of fourā¦5-0 Mariners
This yearās team era is almost 2 runs above 2013ās, 4.79 to 6.49. Maybe after today it will be an even +2.
At least todayās meatball chef is healthy
The worst pitching staff in Astros history is the 2000 Astros, they gave up 944 runs. The 2026 Astros are on pace to give up 1020(pending how many more they give up today)
Only 3 Astros teams have even given up 800, 00, 07 and 13.
The 2000 team had a team WAR among pitchers of 9.6. No one had an absolutely horrible individual season, it was more a case of not knowing how to pitch in the new park. Even Limaās WAR was only -.3. This yearās pitching team WAR is -1.3. So far. It figures to get a lot worse.
More āfunā with numbers. The Astros team ERA of 6.49 coming into the day would be the second worst ERA in history if they keep pace
Well, theyāre nothing if not consistent.
On the latest podcast with Rome, Stafford said something like āNormally the āitās a long seasonā cliche is comforting. Right now it sounds like a threat.ā
Heās 100% correct too
I didnāt like Stafford at first, and Iām still not sure I like him now but Iād be lying if I said he hasnāt grown on me somewhat
Who is Stafford?
If you want to consider the DH factor: the average 2000 AL staff gave up 40 more runs than the average NL staff. So that puts you at 984 in 2000 vs 1020 this year
We are watching some all-time horrible pitching.
Also:
2000: BB and HR /9 - 3.7 and 1.5
2026: BB and HR /9 - 6.3 and 1.5
Tyler Stafford, cohost on the Crush City Territory podcast with Chandler Rome. Heās a complete goofball which can get annoying but he does kinda balance out Romeās complete lack of personality a bit
Iām caught between āit canāt possibly continue to be this bad, Josh Miller and co will figure it outā and āI donāt see how it gets betterā
Fun Fact, Javier and Abreuās WAR is -1.3
Iām about 1 fun fact away from blowing my brains out
Remember way back in ST when the hitters slashed .197 / .310 / .309 / .619 and the pitchers had a 3.51 ERA? Media was saying the staff could be āsneaky goodā this year?
