Good time at Wrigley today. Finally met Mike’s brother John. We live probably less than 45 miles apart but had to travel more than 1,100 miles to meet. Also the Paki/Indian restaurant Chuck recommend was very good but I guess the Leo Sayer tape finally gave out, there was no music.

One of the better things about OWA, what with its free parking, Jelly of The Month Club, and Groupons, is meeting up with the faithful.

We’d arranged to meet at that spot at a certain time and despite the fact that I had Daniel to shepherd over there we made it more or less when I said we would. As I turned the corner and stepped into the patio area I heard someone shout CHUCK and I thought to myself That’s either someone who’s still pissed at me about something 20 years later or it’s John so I looked down, confirmed the ever present Astros koozie and knew to respond warmly rather than flee hastily.

Sphinx and Daniel and I later made our way to a sort of street festival put on by a local brewery. An old friend of mine from the DC days was playing a set and I wanted to see him. Sphinx and I were enjoying ourselves until an obnoxiously loud and embarrassingly drunk (not necessarily in that order) woman decided to have a one way conversation with poor Sphinx. Bear in mind that we were no more than ten yards from the performers. Fortunately for me I was positioned in a spot where I could every now and then hear a little bit of the music drift in over her tales of eating peanuts in the upper deck of Comisky Park and other fascinating experiences.

Anyway, top fellows, those two, and we’ll be back at it again tomorrow.
