Astros at Phillies, 8/28/28

Gamel is growing on me. Or at least the fish slinger stank has worn off.

Gene Elston was exactly the same way.

I think this was the best starting pitching performance of the year. They needed this SO bad.

(Fuck you Kalas for the jinx)

First two Phillies reach

In terms of importance, it’s hard to find a better one.

Two feet hit with one pitch.

I remember his call on Mike Scott’s division winner in '86: “Giants hitless through 8-2/3s …”

6-4-3 and there are two outs, Bohm at 3B

He did not believe in the superstition

Exactly. I didn’t say it well, but this was a must win and Spaghetti killed it.

Shutout!

Linger at the plate, douchenozzle.

The game is still over and you still lost 10-0.

Espada enrages me.

This might piss some folks off… or not. But after getting to know Espada this season via his decisions and interviews, I really think he’s a valuable baseball guy. But… he’s valuable in “middle management” not so much “upper”. He obviously has wonderful baseball qualities, but when you hire a rookie manager you ultimately don’t know what you’re going to get.

ETA: he also will obviously learn and improve and that could happen quickly.

I totally understand taking Bregman out and might have done the same thing.

A no-no for Spaghetti would’ve been icing on the cake, but the overall theme of getting a much needed team win is the most important thing to take away.
Mighty proud of the stomping of the Filthies today in the manner it happened.

As Espada said in the postgame, his goal is to win the division, and he has to manage with that goal in mind.

Amen.

Apologies for re-opening old wounds, but this is a hell of a comp:

I agree 100%. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to punch Kalas in the nuts.
