I assumed, as I think many did, Lourdes would sign with the Astros. Is there a story about his signing?
I remember the White Sox and Astros were in the running but then Toronto offered him $22MM for 7 years, which I assume was his best offer.
Broadcast showed the replay of his throw earlier this year from medium-deep LF, flat footed after he made a catch moving back, that nailed Straw at home on the fly. He’s got a pretty, pretty good arm.
And even with that I wonder if he’s the odd man out when Springer comes back, because Grichuk has been killing it
On that throw he got rid of the ball incredibly quickly. It was not merely the strength of the throw.

Yeah, his back leg never moved between the catch and throw.
Straw didn’t exactly help himself with his jump either.
The play in Houston didn’t bother me. Tip your cap to Gurriel Jr.
The one in Toronto did for the reasons cited above.
