I don’t think there’s any chance he (Altuve) gets to 3,000 hits. That will require something like 525 more hits, which is about 2100 plate appearances (assuming he doesn’t fall off any further than he has already), which is 3+ seasons. Injuries, declining productivity, declining defense: there are so many reasons that he may not achieve even that pessimistic level of performance that I just don’t see it happening.
