Angels at Astros, 8/31/2025

What a ludicrous example of a competitive sports event.

That 5th straight decision vision is in serious jeopardy.

The Astros are void of decision vision at the plate right now.

Blind indecision? Maybe that would work?

Without a second.

Did I miss a rule change that requires Houston pitchers to take every AB to a full count?

Owe him $17M next year and then it’s over.

Maybe the Dodgers want him?

That line forms around the equator.

I’m busier’na three legged bobcat trying to cover up his shit on a frozen pond. Which is fortunate for me since I’m generally not able to watch this goat rodeo.

Heart warming to know I’m missed, though.

To my untrained eye, it appears that the game plan is to “let them play”. The professional hitters, (Carantini, Paredes, maybe Correa) have some semblance of a per at-bat, situational hitting approach on display. The high talent players, (Altuve, Pena, Walker) seem to try to hit to their strengths with no regard to situation and the new players seem to be left to “figure it out” with league pitchers quickly adjusting as the book is written on them and they get absolutely abused.

It appears that long gone are the days of a team-wide approach dictated closely AB-by-AB (and sometimes pitch-by-pitch) by the dugout coaches and informed by deep and sharp analytics on each pitcher. Heck, I don’t even remember the last time I saw an Astros hitter take a peek back over their shoulder at the dugout for direction.
