Angels @ Astros, August 25, 2020, GAME 1

B4:

Straw strikes out looking a cement mixer right down the middle

He did walk their 9-hitter with 2 outs. Other than that he’s been throwing strikes a bit more than he usually does. 49 pitches through 4, and I only mention this because of the doubleheader.

B4:

Altuve walks

B4:

Correa…3-0…3-1…3-2…pops out F5

B4:

Gurriel doubles to LCF, Altuve scores

6-0

B4:

Tucker intentionally walked

B4:

Jones flies out F9 on the first pitch

6-0 Astros

T5:

Ohtani walks

T5:

Pujols grounds out 6-3 on a slow roller…no chance for two…Ohtani to 2B

First inning:

LaStella makes a diving stop on a Correa smash, throws a 1-hopper from his ass to 2nd that beats Altuve but Fletcher fails to pick.

Correa awarded a hit. No error on the play. Was that bc the official scorer took degree of difficulty into account on the throw? (I assume any error would have to be on the throw since it bounced)

It was a hell of a stop/throw.

T5:

Castro…full count…bloops a single to CF…Ohtani scores…Angels first hit

6-1

Thank god Myles Straw is going to get at least four at bats in this 7-inning game.

I’m guessing they figured Fletcher could not have thrown out Correa at 1B. That his only play was at 2B.

T5:

Upton flies out F7 in the LF cutout

If you can’t name the Name That Astro, you’re a bandwagon fan.

Yes.

Fletcher flubbed the pick that would have had Altuve out at 2nd by 2 feet.

Instead he was safe with no error.

I mean LaStella. There has to be an assumption that LaStella could not have thrown out Correa.

T5:

Goodwin doubles down the RF line, Castro scores…6-2

T5:

Fletcher strikes out swinging

But the Angels make it a game…Astros up 6-2

Still no unearned runs in this series, despite Mariner-level defense.
