ALDS Game 3: Astros at White Sox

Yeah, I noticed this too and thought it odd. There are 5 other Umps on the field, and none of them could say that he ran in front of the throw?

In some ways, I hope someone hits a swinging bunt back to the pitcher with a runner coming home from third, and “establishes the baseline” by running straight at the mound.

Grandal’s an ass. Don’t forget he blocked the plate when Altuve was going home but managed to slide around him and score.

Game postponed.

First pitch tomorrow at 1:07

Must be something about being the catcher for the White Sox that does that to people…

THAT’S EXACTLY what the Astros need to do now, slide around the roadblocks and ignores the calls - just do what you do best: play baseball!

Breaking news?

Obviously just hit the wire.

Not sure how I missed the Game 4 thread

The life lesson here is: check the Game Zone before you do anything else in your day.

Not really. AJ Alphabet Soup was an asshole long before he went to Chicago.

It was a painful education…

I know the consensus is to hold your nose when reading Jimboy, but he clearly shows Grandal’s path was not his “natural” route to 1st base (aka absolutely intentional). It may be less stressful, knowing the outcome of the playoff.

Will this play bring a rule change?
Until then, is nothing preventing another runner from doing the same thing during the playoffs?

Doubt there’ll be a rule change. But it should be reviewable.

Here’s the Reggie Jackson play mentioned earlier (maybe a different thread)

Side note:
Umpires should go back to blazers and turtlenecks.

Hmm, the Yankees did something shady??

LOL at the score/inning/outs thing isn’t there. Guess there were announcers that you didn’t mind listening to then. Now we have Joe Buck.
Nobody ever in any concievable universe turned on a sporting event and went “Awesome, I was hoping Joe Buck was calling this game!”

Why do you hate America?

Don’t all Democrats hate America?

I also liked that it seemed like they were calling an equal game.

Whoa! Would have no idea to look for Reggie Jackson in connection w/ that play!
