AL Wild Card Series, Game 1. White Sox @ Astros, September 29, 2026

Good chance this baby is over before the Astros get to hit with King coming in.

If King gets out of this inning without giving up two more runs I will be very surprised.

Buckle up, buttercup.

Blubaugh took a dump out there, but I’m also pretty concerned with how patient and mature the Sox were against him. Didn’t expand their zone an inch.

90 percent of Blubaugh’s misses were not close, though.

Pena would’ve swung at all of them, but most batters wouldn’t.

King works out of it. Sox get an unearned run without a hit

1-0

Well, that was a whimper of an ending.

Very much their m.o.

The Sox never swung at anything because they were too busy diving out of the way.

They would have had to expand their zones to Beaumont.

You could tell after the first batter that Blubaugh was lost. Walker just threw gas on the fire.

I saw a number of close pitches first two walks. Third wasn’t close. Regardless, at least PeƱa reintroduced me to the brand of baseball I’ve been used to this season.

Sweepers that run from way outside to a few inches outside aren’t going to get swung at very often with less than 2 strikes.

He doesn’t trust his stuff.

Astros just went out there hacking at everything

This is my shocked face.

Leadoff shiftfuck roller to 2B for the Sox first hit

Another single

I didn’t think they would bring King back for the 2nd…

This is a throw away game as far as Espada is concerned.
