A Republic, If You Can Keep It

And now the US Embassy in Saudi Arabia has been hit by Iranian drones.

What is it that happened at Benghazi anyway?

Hey Hudson?

What’s gonna happen to the global oil market?

And how’s that going to affect Trump’s unsupervised slush account in Qatar for Venezuelan oil proceeds?

I was thinking more about domestic prices (of fuel and thus goods) and such, but, that’s a good thought too

Paxton and Cornyn will be in a runoff.

Interesting map.

Cornyn’s ads will say that he voted with Trump 99% of the time, and then go scorched earth on Paxton’s infidelity and criminality. Paxton ads will be about slurping Trump’s dick 100% of the time. Neither will have ads be about their accomplishments or plans if elected senator, because they have none of either.

Read today that Trump plans to endorse Sleepy Eye or Cornyn, and will demand that the other drop out. I’m sure that will go over well. Talarico might actually have a shot.

Man, your post sent me down a bunny trail. Hassan won 86% in Newton Cty, while getting 2%, 2%, and 1% in neighboring counties. Tried to research him to see if he was from there, but I couldn’t find any connection to the area. Pretty odd.

Tabulation error?

There were only 348 votes cast, and he got 299 of them. Already there are accusations of shenanigans. Expect Abbot and Republicans to use it as an excuse to take over more control of elections and ballot counting.

I just looked at the senate voting in my precinct, which was peculiar but typical. Of 225 Republican votes cast, 57.8% were for Cornyn, 20.9% for Paxton, and 18.7% for Hunt. Of 733 Democratic votes cast, 87.6% were for Talarico and 12.1% for Crockett. None are reported for Hassan. I’d go with that statewide.

I’d guess that a heavy percentage of Newton County Democratic voters are Black, and that those votes were supposed to go for Crockett.

That was my assumption as well. She got the remaining vote (which was likely Talarico’s), and Talarico took a big 0 (which was likely Hassan’s). I suspect both GeezerDon and HH are correct: it’s a tabulation error that will be used by the Republicans. Hell, it was probably caused by them.

You can pretty much bet that nobody in charge of that Newton County election was a Democrat.
