From the latest episode of the Rome/Stafford/Reddick show: Rome guesses “better than 50% odds” Verlander ends up back in Houston. Not based on any sources, Rome says, and he hasn’t heard anything about actual negotiations—but he says it doesn’t take sources to know JV wants to come back and Crane would love to have him.
Before anyone looks at his 4-11 W/L record, pay attention to his 3.85 ERA and his last 5 games once he was through his early season injuries:

JV was certainly needed by Houston at the end of this season. He’s worth a shot if he’s healthy.
He should be angling for one of those Clemens half-year contracts.
For me, it would depend on the money JV wants. The 15M he got from the Giants is probably more than I’d want to spend on a 4th/5th starter but if he’s willing to pitch for say, 10M… I’d do that in a heartbeat. Just having him around would be a benefit also
Sources: Chas McCormick has been outrighted by the Houston Astros to make more room on the 40-man roster.
McCormick will forever have a spot in Houston fans hearts with his huge catch in the 2022 World Series, as well as the Chas Chomp.
The Astros have placed outfielder Chas McCormick on outright waivers, source tells @TheAthletic, along with John Rooney, Kenedy Corona, Luis Garcia and Pedro León.

Counting the guys on the 60-day IL, the 40-man roster is still full
Luis Garcia will always be a Carlos Hernandez to me. Ace stuff but couldn’t stay healthy. Hate to see him go.
To all these now former Astros:
We had some lively times.
Mine too!!!
Mine too
Framber got a QA from the Astros.
That’s probably that.
So… supplemental pick if he signs elsewhere before opening day?
Yes. So that would be two supplemental picks (including the one for Hunter’s top-three showing in the CY). It’s a start.
Important to note, the Hunter Brown pick will be right after the first round, the Framber pick would be after the 3rd(unless the Astros also sign somebody that got a qualifying offer, I believe)
I think I read somewhere that the framber pick could be after the fourth round if we went over the luxury tax threshold, which I think we did. I think we’re really really close.
I think you’re right
