Well, fuck. Anyone know where I can stream Sneakers?
Itās really incredible. I couldnāt even cobble together a top 10 of films he either starred in or directedāthereās just too many. Decades of greatness.
$3.79 on Prime, $3.99 on AppleTV. Or free on one of those Russian youtube type channels that I donāt recommend.
Just looking at his filmography on Wikipedia, and you see this run of movies.
Iāve never heard of āDownhill Racerā or āLittle Fauss and Big Haleyā (they may be great I have no idea), but otherwise thatās a decade-and-a-half of nothing but dingers.
In the middle of that run he directed āOrdinary Peopleā, his debut behind the camera.
Absolutely loved The Electric Horseman when I was a kid
Wouldnāt pirating it be the proper tribute?
Also, Sneakers is a close second to Oceanās 11 in the category of āletās just put together the coolest fucking people alive and let them cookā
Other than having the order wrong, this is completely correct.
Downhill Racer is fucking great. The scene where Redford and Camila Sparv argue in a car as they both realize how shallow their relationship is and that itās coming to an end is particularly good.
I need to check if I still have the bootleg copy I bought on eBay twenty years ago (for whatever reason, the movie was unavailable on dvd in the States). Or Iām sure I could stream it somewhere.
Apparently itās on Fubo, which I have, and was filmed in Kitzbuhel, where I learned to ski. Seems like a much watch.
Otherwise available for $4 on all the usual suspects.
I was searching for a way to say this tactfully earlier so Iāll give it a shot.
Both Newman and Redford both spent time as major sex symbols/hunks. As they aged their work didnāt suffer, it blossomed, and they didnāt insist on being portrayed as ageless wonders. (The tactful part is in my mind they differ in this respect from Cruise and Pitt. Even Costner leans into the ultimate badass trope).
Anyway A River Runs Through It was beautifully filmed, acted, and narrated.
Off topic, but have you seen Oceanās One?
I have to confess, Iāve never seen, āThe Way We Wereā. Have I missed something I should watch?
Kind of corny but worth watching - Redford and Streisand are always worth watching. It holds up well - good costumes, sets, locations and interesting historical vignettes. The roles were written as stereotypes so neither had much to work with from an acting stand point.

Longtime Texas Rangers scout Scott Littlefield found dead Friday in a Houston hotel
Littlefield, 59, had been with the Rangers on the last stop on the current road trip and had remained in Houston.
Scott Littlefield, a 33-year veteran scout who had spent the last 15 years as part of the Rangersā inner circle of talent evaluators, was found dead Friday in a Houston hotel where he had been on assignment for the team. The Rangers announced Littlefieldās death Saturday morning.
No cause of death was released.
Claudia Cardinale, 87. One of the most incredibly gorgeous women to ever grace the screen, and one hell of an actor.
Oh wow, she was absolutely gorgeous. I was just a kid but I fell in love with her after seeing, The Professionals.
Iāve seen 8 1/2 at least 6 1/2 times, and she makes that movie.
Last time you only made it halfway through? It happens to the best of us.
