The only “good” thing about this game is that they did keep it close enough that the Tigers had to use their best bullpen bullets. Of course Espada used one of his too for some reason
I hope it is up to Kucuchi (sp?) to win it all.
That’s like saying “the good thing is, when I shot my dick off I wasn’t wearing my Sunday pants.”
Hader last pitched in the first Cleveland game, so maybe it is good to knock some rust off.
They kept the game close against the best pitcher in baseball and gave themselves a legitimate chance to win the game in the end. They battled back nicely.
It was odd to me and lots of people around me that there were no new “Relentless” rally towels being handed out. They would have helped the vibe early on.
I thought the same thing, and Mrs MM commented on the lack of towels as soon as we walked in.
This was just dumb. Gave them a look at Hader for no reason.
Ok. So maybe this was a possible reason. But I still didn’t like it.
Yeah, boy. Towels make such a difference
Fun stats from Berman:
-
Yordan Alvarez went 2x4 with a double…has logged multiple hits in 7 consecutive postseason games, breaking a tie with OF Nelson Cruz for the longest streak in MLB history.
-
Jose Altuve went 1x4…collected his 118th career postseason hit, breaking a tie with OF Manny Ramirez for 3rd-most in MLB history…also appeared in his 104th career postseason game, tying C Yadier Molina for the 6th-most in MLB history.
They didn’t use Bill Brasky and I heard he is a real son of a bitch.
They shouldn’t mess with the BGs. If they always hand out towels at playoff games, they should have handed out towels.
ETA: My guess is that they had to place the towel order back in April, and Crane just didn’t think they’d need them this year.
Good point.
Writers seem to have the memory of a goldfish. 90% of predictions weee “Skubal can win game one but the Astros will still win the series”. 100% of todays articles are “Tigers on verge of upset”
Not only that, but four teams are on the verge of elimination!
I think it was less of a short memory and more of them actually seeing the team we’ve been watching this season. They’re not bad, but not the Astros they’re used to.
I’m remembering in the 94 G7 against the Eockets, Charles Barkley posting on the Suns market board:
“They want to die. You have to kill them”
…, then the Suns could t do the job.
I think every other team knows the Astros are vulnerable, but they’re still not sure they can put the stake through the heart.
Well…it’s true. Astros need to reach down and find a pair today.
Anyone who feels confident about today is out of their fucking mind.
I never feel confident in the Postseason. If the Astros had a 3-game lead in a best of seven, led 40-0 with two out in the 9th, I’m still nervous.
