2024-25 offseason

The Cubs aren’t giving Bregman six years at 26M in AAV like the Astros. He already has a three-year deal with opt outs from them, and one of their reporters, Bruce Levine, said the Cubs view Alex as a 25M player.

Rosenthal & Rome report Polanco is heading back to Seattle.

Boo to this….but the dollars are definitely higher than what I thought he would get at $7.75M.

Yep, would have put the team back over tax threshold.

Bregman reportedly has another 6 year offer on the table from another team besides the Astros. It is probably Detroit. Report didn’t mention at what price point that offer is.

Sounds like this could come to a head today.

With an opt-out after the first year, according to Heyman, who also says it’s from “a team that may not be high on his list.” Some speculation that it’s Toronto.

Per Chandler Rome on X, “There are also some outfielders available via trade.”

Combing the internet for fits and couldn’t find much (focusing on teams with vets or quasi vets that aren’t planning on being competitive this year). Wondering what it might take to pry Nootbaar away from STL? He’s a cheap lefty that can play all three OF positions.

Listening to MLB radio this morning and they are saying TOR or DET favorites to land Breggy…for whatever that is worth (probably not much).

At this point, like Rhett, I do not give a damn about Bregman. Get a hitter OFer.

I’m with you but who? There is not much left…nothing that moves the needle for me unless they find a willing trade partner. Dezenzo is not left-handed but I’m hoping he opens some eyes in ST and forces his way into the equation. He had a pretty good run in the winter leagues.

Yeah, I meant trade.

Boy do I hope so. It’s been widely reported that the Astros have never taken their original offer to Bregman off the table. As long as that’s hanging out there, it’s going to be hard to make the other moves they need to make to finalize the roster. Time to shit or get off the pot.

Our farm system is so poor, that I don’t think we even have the ability to trade for anyone who would be better than those still out on the market. You could make a major move (like Valdez) and try to get multiple pieces like we did with Tucker, but they have already said they were not trading Framber at this time. I know we would prefer a left handed bat, but I’m starting to think we should just sign Ramon Laurano. His numbers last year were better than Jake or Chaz and he’s a great defender.

They definitely have the depth to make trades. As bad as the Astros’ outfield projects to be right now, guys like Mike Yastrzemski, Lane Thomas, etc. are genuine upgrades who wouldn’t come at much of a prospect cost.

He’s also an A+ asshole. I’d prefer to let someone else deal with his drama.

Sometimes the asshole isn’t as big when it is your asshole….unless you’re in the porn industry.

Fuck Laureano.

Too dumb to dodge the PED program that makes the membership criteria at Costco look stringent.

Fuck Bregman too. Shit or get off the pot.
