Way to twist the knife then.

All of which is to say - the Rays have had some luck, but also made the plays the Astros haven’t
And a axe right to the dick while the knife is still in my back. Thanks man.
This game, and likely this series, turned on laziness. You simply cannot do that in the Postseason. You’re not playing the Rangers or fucking Orioles.
Altuve and Yuli both got too casual, took the play for granted, and made physical errors. That sucks.
Yuli compounded his by being too lazy to grab the fucking ball and step on the base, and I just can’t get past that.
I still think it was a worth a look. He may have still been in contact with the bag when he grabbed it.
Still…just fucking lazy. No other words to describe it. Just fucking lazy.
I thought he was too
Game was lost in the first inning on a really poor defensive effort by two good fielders. Lance was great. Scrubb was great. The boys hit em hard all day and unfortunately hit it at ‘em. That’s baseball. Loved it since I was imitating Lil’ Joe as a kid. Love it despite the scoreboard at the end of the day today.
Series has 7 games in it. We are still playing. A win is just nine innings away.
Urquidy tomorrow, pitching on 5 days rest instead of the usual 4.
Why does that matter?
CAREER, 4d REST 1-2, 5.01 (6 starts)
CAREER, 5d REST 1-0, 1.06 (3 starts)
Those are reg season only. Go get 'em.
If the next game goes extra innings, I’m going to drive to your house and beat you with Reddick’s rolled up newspaper.
Sung to the tune of ‘Tomorrow’
What, like that would hurt?
I figured the eventual paper cuts might sting a little.
Drink a cup of optimism (or Maker’s Mark) boys. And tip the final drink to Joe Morgan. I was a left handed pitcher who wanted to play 2B like Lil Joe until Pete Runnels explained the facts of life to me at Camp Champions. Watson. Morgan. Wynn. Gone. But never to be forgotten.
Just saw the 1st inning error.
Jeesh.
A little urgency please. Both of you.
And Lance, your teammates will make errors. It is part of the game. You must pitch through them, not give up a 3-run home run.
Some quotes:
“I just didn’t pick the guys up in the first there,” McCullers said.
Correa: “There were a lot of hard-hit balls today right at people. You can say (it’s) unlucky, but at the same time you’ve got to give credit to their defense.”
“(McCullers) was able to keep us in the game, give us a chance to win the ballgame,” Correa said. “I texted him after the game, ‘It was a great performance. Sorry we couldn’t come through for you.’ Because a performance like that, you don’t see that very often. That was impressive to watch. That was fun to play behind. But at the same time, I feel like that’s the kind of game that you’ve got to win, when your pitcher gives you a performance like that. This one hurts, but the series is not over. We’ve got to move on and go back tomorrow and win a game.”
I do think he’s matured quite a bit.
And he goes to bat for his mates on social media.
